Fast Food: Advantages and Disadvantages

August 25, 2021 by Guest User

Fried potatoes, hamburgers, chicken nuggets — all these dishes can be cooked at home, but we still prefer going to the nearest McDonalds, KFC, or another fast-food restaurant to eat them. Finding a person who hasn’t tried fast food at least once is a real challenge, especially if you try to do it in the USA, Canada, France, or South Korea.

These countries are the leaders in fast-food consumption. Have you ever thought about what attracts people to fast food? First of all, it’s a tasty smell that awakes our taste buds and causes a desire to eat. Second, it’s our brain that adores fats, sugars, and marketing tips these restaurants use.

Well, we also won’t deny that purchasing food in a restaurant saves time we could spend on cooking. It relates to people who are busy and don’t have a free minute. Of course, they don’t want to waste valuable time swifting around the stove. No wonder students spend enough money on fast food restaurants and eating outside at all. They often juggle studying with work, so they think it’s better to buy something than do it. That’s why each time they face a complicated college paper, they ask a professional thesis writing service for help and have a rest in their spare time.

We aren’t interested in factors that make people eat this food. Today we’ll discuss the pros and cons of fast-food restaurants to give people more valuable information about them.

Advantages of Eating Fast Food

Since millions of other people and we can’t live without burgers and nuggets, we want to pay attention to the benefits first:

  • You get dinner fast. We understand that this advantage is obvious, but omitting important details isn’t the best approach when discussing something. The pace of life nowadays is too high, and people don’t have time to cook. That’s why eating outside, especially in fast-food restaurants, is the best way to satiate the appetite and be happy.
  • It’s a cheap way to eat somewhere. Many people don’t eat in restaurants and food courts because they think it’s too expensive. Fast food is a cheap way to eat some delicious food. Let’s not forget that millions of people worldwide struggle with poverty, and attending such restaurants is the only way to entertain.
  • It’s a good place to spend time with the closest people. No matter what other people say about fast-food restaurants, we still will love them for the nice and friendly atmosphere. Even if you meet the person for the first time and decide to have a cup of coffee in a fast-food restaurant, you’ll quickly get closer and find common ground. It’s nothing short of magic.
  • Fast food suits all tastes. Nowadays, restaurants analyze their target audience and try to meet all their needs. That’s why people with different preferences in food can easily find a suitable dish to eat.

Disadvantages of Fast Food Restaurants

Nutritionists and doctors are worried about the rising popularity of this food because they are aware of its negative effects. Let’s find out how many disadvantages can fast-food restaurants bring to you:

  • Food is unhealthy. We all seem to be aware of it, but it won’t harm anyone if we stress it again. No matter what you purchase there: fried potato, hamburger, or anything else: it’s always junk or full of sugar. People who eat there rarely won’t harm their health, but the same can’t be said of the individuals purchasing food there several times a week.
  • The quality of ingredients is low. You can’t know what products are used for cooking the dishes you buy and what their quality is. Managers may state that they do everything according to the standards, but everything may drastically differ in reality. Let’s not forget about the numerous cases of poisons. If you always eat fast food and state that it can’t harm you, there’s no guarantee that your next visit will end happily.
  • You can gain weight. Food in McDonald’s and other similar restaurants is high-calorie, that’s why it can negatively impact your shape. Modern people care about their appearance and try to avoid everything that can make them become overweight. However, you’re safe from it if you know the limits.
  • Fast food is deprived of nutrients. Vitamins and minerals are crucial elements, ensuring our overall health. As you understand, fast food contains either too low an amount of them or has no vitamins at all. When you eat such food too often, your body starts suffering due to the lack of the necessary nutrients.
  • It may cause an addiction. Many people don’t believe it, but the smell and taste of fast food make people addicted to it. You may eat it every day but still don’t feel it’s enough for you. Each time you walk past the restaurant, you can’t resist the desire to enter and eat a burger or two.
